The local financial market has ample liquidity to cope with the recent turmoil, with bond yields surging to a record high, the head of the nation's financial watchdog said yesterday.
"The local financial market is maintaining a great deal of trading, which means the market has ample liquidity," Financial Supervisory Service Governor Kim Yong-duk said in a radio interview.
"Considering that the continued volatility in the global financial market could lead to a U.S. economic recession, there can be difficulties (in the local market) for a while. We will be closely monitoring the market," Kim said. The governor's views were shared with Financial Supervisory Commission vice chairman Yun Yong-ro.(The Korea Herald 2007.12.01)


국내 금융감독원장은 어제, 채권수익률이 사상최고 수준으로 급등한 최근 혼란에 대응할 수 있을 정도로 우리나라 금융시장 유동성이 충분하다고 말했다. 한 라디오 인터뷰에서 김용덕 금융감독원장은 “국내금융시장은 거래가 계속 활발하게 진행되고 있으며 이는 유동성이 충분하다는 것을 의미한다”라고 말했다. 김 위원장은 “계속되고 있는 국제금융시장 변동성이 미 경제를 침체로 몰고갈 수 있다는 점을 감안해, 당분간 (국내 시장에) 어려움이 있을 수 있다. 우리는 시장을 예의 주시할 것이다”라고 말했다. 금감원장의 의견은 금융감독위원회 윤영로 부원장의 의견과 일치한다.
